About Christ-St. Paul’s Church

Here at Christ-St. Paul’s, we are about believing, praying, and living.

On Sunday’s we gather to worship in the Anglican tradition with a mix of old and new music styles. We have something for everyone! Throughout the week we create space for developing our relationships with God and each other through intentional Christian spiritual formation.

Located in western Charleston County, CSP is a hub for members from close-by Hollywood, Ravenel, and Meggett, reaching out in all directions: east to West Ashley and Johns Island, south to Edisto, north to Summerville, and west to Adams Run.

Ultimately we believe the God found in the Bible is real and knowable, and he desires to know you! If you don’t know him, we’d love to introduce you to him! If you do know him, we would love for you to worship with us!

Our Vision & Our Mission

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
— (Matthew 28:19 ESV)

We understand the task of the church to be the evangelization and transformation of God’s creation into the image of Christ. Our goal is to walk with each other as we each endeavor to move towards a deeper formation in Christ. We do this by seeking the kingdom of God and following the way of Jesus. Through this we will see healing and flourishing come our community and all the world.

Our Values

Worship

Worship corresponds to both our corporate gatherings and our personal, individual lives. Worship is a response of all that we are - mind, emotions, will, and body - to all that God is and says and does. We worship God primarily because he alone is worthy of our worship. Secondarily, we worship God because of the good news of our salvation found in union with Christ.

Discipleship

We acknowledge that being formed in the image of Christ is a process and requires intentional practices and discipline. It is our desire to be intimate with and fully obedient to Christ through teaching, equipping, and sending God's people. To this end, we encourage all members to participate in Formation Groups: small groups made up of roughly four to eight members who are committed to praying for one another, studying Scripture, sharing authentically, and practicing hospitality. We also have several formation opportunities such as Time in the Word, Men’s Morning Study, Women’s Devotionals, and Oasis: Gathering for Mom’s.

Fellowship

Through our worship and communion, our gatherings, our studies and our service, we share our lives, our stories, and participate together as followers of Jesus Christ. We celebrate and suffer together, always making room for new members to join in the experience of belonging to Christ’s body. We have regular times and rhythms of intentional fellowship, like monthly Big Breakfast, Family Game Nights, Parish Movie Nights, Epiphany Celebration with Chili contest, and wonderful receptions on regular basis.

Our Role in the Diocese

CSP is part of The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina, following the leadership of Bishop Chip Edgar. Our leaders and members participate in diocesan committees, conferences, retreats, and gatherings, and have many relationships with other churches and individuals across the diocese. The diocese covers 24 counties in the eastern part of South Carolina, and is recorded to have 20,763 baptized members and 53 parishes. CSP is part of the West Charleston Deanery.

The Anglican Diocese formed in 2012 when the historical Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina split into two groups after a long period of conflict over theology and authority within the national Episcopal Church. Bishop Lawrence and a majority of the members of the historical diocese left the Episcopal Church but continued to claim diocesan property, including church buildings, and to be the continuation of the historical diocese. The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina joined the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) in 2017.*

As part of the ACNA, we follow the leadership of Archbishop & Primate The Most Rev. Stephen D. Wood. We adhere to the ACNA Statement of Faith.
